Guest guest
Yes, I just had about 5-6 to spare - and posted on site (I am who AKIBA got it from) I charged the cost of shipping + $2.00 for materials to ship them safely - At Walmart they have boxes (.77/each), bubble wrap ($1.97); good shipping tape (.97) and of course zip locks the good ones (about $2.50) - I put them in cheap ziplocks first with a squirt of KT for moisture. Then put that one inside the zipper lock bag =Closed it to were there was a lil' opening and blew it up with air then sealed - for extra protection. Wrapped in bubble wrap and put in the box = Then I had some lil' styrophome (sp) pieces from another shipment- So I packed them around it as well. You'd be surprised how quick they went - I had 3 people get them - one got a couple - another got 1 + half of a big square one I had and cut in half, and another took one of my hands as well. Plus last week I had a lady at work get one - and taking another woman one today. I sent links on kombucha to family and friends - you'd be surprised how many want to start it once reading up - Hope that helps NOW maybe you can help me -- WHat instructions did you follow to get the PERFECT BREW - no sourness - you speak of? Thanks Cori > > May I ask all of you what you do with extra scobies? I can't bring myself to eat them (yecch), and also can't bring myself to throw them away. > > Help. > > p.s. Update. I finally had a brew turn out not quite so sour. Been following advice (wooo hooo ....Kellie!) and using tea from the top. I'm hoping that by two more batches, they won't be quite so tart. > > Thanks everybody for the tips!!! > > J. > > QUESTION: > > Would brewing with two scobies at the same time make it ferment faster or more tart? > > > --------------------------------- > Yahoo! Guest guest
I just followed Kellie's advice and the advice of some other people and used tea from the top as my starter, and only used a couple Liptons, and mostly green tea. The K-tea was still a little sour, but nothing like the past couple brews where I HAD to add grape juice to make it drinkable. I think if I keep doing this (using tea from top) I may " balance " my brew. Hope this helps!!! bunnysnugglee wrote: Yes, I just had about 5-6 to spare - and posted on site (I am who AKIBA got it from) I charged the cost of shipping + $2.00 for materials to ship them safely - At Walmart they have boxes (.77/each), bubble wrap ($1.97); good shipping tape (.97) and of course zip locks the good ones (about $2.50) - I put them in cheap ziplocks first with a squirt of KT for moisture.
