Weaning off Zoloft & Grapefruit INTERACTIONS

Hi Cheryl and Rei from Sue,

Thanks for the great link on tapering meds..!

I didn't realize grapefruit interacted with SSRI's!

(My husband eats grapefruit every morning..and

we USED to be on Prozac & Ritalin for 9 years in the 1990's..before

switching to Amino Acid therapy.. 8 years ago.)

Another excellent source for weaning off

SSRI's ,and meds..etc... is called the MOOD CURE by

Ross... She also wrote the DIET CURE

which has a WONDERFUL CHART on amino acid therapy

CONDENSED on pages 120- 121..

( If MB12 is not helpful to you this may be a nice resource.)

We used over ten aminos from her books to get off

SSRI's...safely... and relatively quickly...days ---as I recall..

since the Aminos do naturally what the SSRI's do synthetically.

But ----NOTE:..THEN ----

When we started the 1250 mcg's MB12 Nasal Spray with 300 mcg'sFolinic acid..

We NO longer needed the Aminos per muscle testing the VERY NEXT day....

Except for Lysine ...=great for absorption of CA, & increasing secretin & fighting Herpes

and Taurine = great for helping counter oxalate effects and helps absorb EFA's,etc.

So I would assume Rei's son will be able to progress quickly

from weaning... as we did...

HIS MB12 is likely to replace

the good effects very quickly..in our experience...

but of course everyone is different.

Hope that helps,

Sue

Risperdal is an anti-psychotic, Zoloft is an anti-depressant. My guess is that you probably never needed the Risperdal in the first place and that the zoloft was too high a dose and caused aggression, compulsiveness, etc. Docs want to just keep adding more crap on top of more crap instead of looking at the *meds*. The reason I say it was probably the zoloft is because we are currently going through a test increase in dose (we are on zoloft, too) which is not working out and these are the things that are happening and it's telling us that it's time to go back to the previous dose and possibly switch ssris altogether. Now we aren't on the DAN protocol and ssris are a part of the protocol we are on to increase blood flow to the brain so since you are on DAN, it's not something you really need to think about at this point. Going off of both makes sense for you to trial it out. Risperdal is a different class of drug altogether and I would say it's the Risperdal making your son zombie like, not the zoloft.I think that you should wean off of both *slowly*. Coming off of both of these drugs can be hard and you really need to take your time. I would lower the dose by a small fraction so it should take you at least a couple months to come off them completely. It took us almost a year to get up to the final destination of dose (keep in mind that also includes time spent on other things so we didn't increase constantly - one thing at a time, always). Titrating up and down should both be done very slow and in small increments. We increased on a monthly basis on months when we did increase. Here is a link on weaning from antidepressants:http://www.antidepressantsfacts.com/taper.htmI don't have link for you on weaning from antipsychotics but I will say that you should probably take this one even slower. And congratulations! It's wonderful that your son is responding so well to MB12! :)Cheryl>> Dear All, does anyone have any expericnes in having your child on > Risperdal, Zoloft and also MB12 shots at the same time?
