Guest guest
Thank you for your encougament! I can see that your daughter is lucky to have you for a mom! I will try that..some of her supplemtnts she has been on forever and she may not need some..She cant swallow pills and we have to squirt them into her through a syringe so if we can cut some down that may help. Thanks so much. I printed off your post I have not heard of NAET....? Maureen > > Hi Maureen, > > I think many of us on this board understand what you are feeling and can empathize. I have felt, in the past, as you are feeling now. I haven't read the other posts yet, but here are some thoughts of mine. I too have a daughter (6 yrs. old, mild ASD, SEVERE debilitating anxieties, expressive/receptive speech delay, auditory processing disorder and sensory integration dysfunction). When I reached my lowest point, I found that in order to see SOME progress, I needed to change EVERYTHING around for my daughter. I started by pulling her off of ALL supplements, then restarting them, slowly, one at a time, to see which ones had an effect on her (good, bad or otherwise). If I saw NO changes, I kept her on them and added the next, if I saw a positive change, I did the same, and if I saw negative changes, I pulled her back off, in some cases altogether. Some supplements in which she reacted to negatively, such as P5P, I found another form of B6 to give her (liquid Carlson brand...nasty but no negative reactions). Other supplements, such as the DMAE she became hyper with, and I took her off altogether. Only after I put all the supplements back on board, and I was satisfied that she wasn't having negative reactions did I start to seek other alternative treatments. I began with NAET to try to clear her of any allergies that she had that I possibly didn't realize she had (golden delicious and fuji apples..she was very sensitive to them. I did a NAET clearing and now she tolerates the fuji without incident). After doing NAET I then switched to Chiropractic Neurology which has been working wonders for her sensory issues although it still hasn't settled any of her anxieties, at least not enough that they do not control her life. I also enrolled her in a social skills group and in the fall I will enroll her in a special needs soccer program. Everything you do needs to be a progressive step. If you notice good changes, keep it going and add something else. If you see nothing choose to either keep that specific 'step' or eliminate it...whichever works best for you and your daughter. > > Its sounds like you have been doing EVERYTHING and have seen little progress. Maybe taking a step back then restarting is what you need to do. I don't think I would continue giving any supplement or medication that is making her vomit so much. It may be an allergic reaction. If its die off, make sure to give her the activated charcoal, if you can get it in her. > > Don't stop fighting for your daughter's good health outcome, no matter what the masses say. You're her mother. You may want to take a step back...a breather...for your own sake, your own health; and that's fine. But do what's in your heart. I have no support system at home (my husband does absolutely NOTHING to try to help our daughter, it's all on me), and I have no close relatives to go to for support or encouragement. I follow my heart and go where it leads me. I know that by doing this I will do what is best for my daughter. > > I wish you the best of luck with finding the puzzle pieces to help your daughter recover. It is such a long process. Guest guest
Valtrex could be the wrong antiviral is my first thought given what you describe...my second is that youy may be seeing the effects of acute malnutrition and malabsorption - does she fit the diagnostic criteria for autism or does she show affection etc - was she dev normally, but then got sick and declined rapidly...don't give up, but perhaps slow down. Go to the Fiber Menace site and look at the section on how stools are formed and what they are made of - check out wht can happen when a gut is sterile and the bs and ks are no longer produced - sound like your kid? This has been huge for us and for another mom on this list...pulling osme healthy much loved foods like apples, pears, avacados etc is giving us BACK our kids...not bc they are allergic but bc it is very likely they both had versions of inflamatory bowel disease undiagnosed, with the onset of symptoms at a critical point in their dev so they nmever came into language. Beth's child lost all his. Though things have gotten better on the gowel front the stuff you were describing is not autism but illness...gas, bloating, stool issues...and if her mucousal lining is inflamed and nothing she eats is she getting any nutrition from then all sorts of stuff is going on and no FAN is going to be able to help you much...I am Canadian as ell and from Clagary, but I live in malibu...here is my e amil - diatplay@... Read his site see if anything clicks...see if her stools WHICH SHOULD BE SOFT - SOFT IS GOOD, unformed in not, too BIG is very bad...if you want I will send you a detailed description of everything he has told Beth and I to do,a dn we can figure out if this is what you need to do next...give the gut a break and heal it. Look for athread in this site called Stan;s approach confirmed by medical researcher or something like htat and read all the posts...it was from a few days back...see what K says more than half the autism is...healing didn;t srat until we stopped much of what we were doing to heal...but kept the antiviral on board - you may need a different antiviral...DO NOT DO HBOT in her condition IMO. GOd bless.
