MYSTIC MERKABA MEDITATION Meditation of Sacred Geometry, Higher Self and LightbodyWhat is the Merkaba?TheMerkaba (pronounced with equal stress on each syllable. MER-KA-BA) isthe activation of the "lightbody" vehicle. Everybody has various energyfields around their body. Merkaba activation techniques use intentionto create a vehicle based on a sacred geometry design for a variety ofpurposes. The main purpose is to bring you to higher states ofconsciousness and awareness to fully embody the energy of unconditionallove. Unconditional love is not an emotion, but a state of being.InHebrew mysticism, the merkabah, or merkava, was the chariot/throne oflight that Elijah ascended into heaven. It was described as a"whirlwind of fire." Interestingly enough, the Hebrew word for"whirlwind is purposely "misspelled" in this story, and preserved inmany copies, when compared to other Hebrew references to whirlwinds. What was so special about this whirlwind? The Hebrew letters that spellthe word Merkaba are Mem-Resh-Caph- Beth, from the root wordResh-Caph-Beth, meaning "to ride." The root words the same as the rootword for "cherub" a form of angel, for angels were believed to havethese chariots of light to travel dimensions. The Talmud (A Hebrew holytext) mentions the Merkaba in reference to Prince Judah who forbademention of it in the text of the Mishnah. Many of these mysticalteachings were shrouded in secrecy at the time, and many were toldcasual practice of such techniques would lead to madness or death.Later, the Kaballah itself was restricted to only married men over theage of forty.Merkaba mysticism was thought to be a form ofastral travel, or total body travel. Elijah was said to "ascend" toheaven, body and all, and never die. The exact techniques the ancientmystics used are unknown, though many assume it to combine prayer, meditation and some form of yogic posturing. Currently, many believe tohave recovered the techniques through channeled sources, such as theKeys of Enoch by J.J. Hurtak. In hermetic magic, a lightbody vehicle, or body of light, is activated to do more advanced magical work.Inmodern "new age" circles, the Merkaba is said to be 18th DynastyEgyptian, meaning "counter rotating fields of light" dating back to Egyptor even Atlantis. Ka and Ba are two Egyptian words for parts of thesoul. Mer refers to a special form of light, seen as counter rotatingfields. Ka means "spirit" and Ba alternately means "soul" or to some,"body." Channeled sources tell us that Merkaba techniques were taughtin the ancient mystery schools, along with other forms of healing andgnosis. They were lost for much on Egypt's known history, but reintroduced in the 18th Century by the Pharaoh Akhenaten.Manyancient stories are now said to refer to the Merkaba, but we cannotverify that as fact. The references to "wheels within wheels" in bothHebrew and Hindu mythology may be describing counter rotating fields.Aswith Reiki and all forms of healing and mysticism, opinions andtechniques vary. Some feel the Merkaba should only be passed on fromteacher to student and sharing any materials is forbidden. Othersfreely share, feeling all are ready for this. I ask that my students berespectful of all other Merkaba views. There are many differenttechniques out there, and one is not better than another. Some are veryleft brain and technical. Some are very right brain and simple. Somebalance between the two. It is important to find the one correct foryou. There are simply variations of our basic nature. When we "learn"the Merkaba, we are simply remembering who we are - Love. There aremany ways to the top of the mountain, and many ways back to the Source.Ultimately, the Merkaba is a meditation to focus you on Love. The Merkaba is not areligion or belief system in itself. It is a tool that can be used withother forms of meditation and ceremony, particularly as a preliminaryto prepare you for other experiences. What is Ascension?Ascensionrefers to the idea the world is going through a shift in consciousnessthat will bring many changes. No one is quite sure how the changes willmanifest. The best definition for me is ascension is living your higherself full time. Others describe it as entering Christ Consciousness.Still more feel we are moving out of this dimension and into the next.In terms of dimensions, I think of it not as physically leaving theearth, but manifesting the "heavens" or "paradise" here on Earth as aphysical reality. What is the Higher Self?Youare probably currently living at your personality, or ego self. Somecall this our middle self. In this paradigm, there is also a lowerself, represented by our sub and un-consciousness. "Above" the middleself is a higher self, the divine or super conscious self, living in ahigher dimension. The higher self helps direct the life lessons andexperiences of the middle self.In most mysticism, one contactsthe lower self to communicate and interpret messages to the higher selfand vice versa. With the Merkaba, the goal is to contact the higherself directly. The reason for temples, churches and ceremonies were tocreate geometry and energy fields that facilitate contact with thehigher self and allow the physical body to connect and contain more ofthe higher, multidimensional aspect. The higher self is thoughtof as the divine self, or soul, which sheds the ego or middle self upondeath. In one school of thought, there is a hierarchy to souls in thisuniverse. The All, Great Spirit or Creator, generated Monads, or sparksof light and consciousness, to experience itself. The Monads extendedseveral souls out, creating "soul groups." The souls, seen as thehigher self, then create several extensions of themselves, which becomeour middle, or personal selves. Ascension is not only ascending to livethe higher self, but also ultimately returning to the All is love andbliss. The higher self is also called the "I AM Presence" or"Mighty I AM Presence. " I AM THAT I AM" are the words Yahweh gaveMoses on top of the mountain as the burning bush. These words connectus to our higher self, and through it, the Divine. Others view theHigher Self as the descent of the Holy Spirit, or White Dove into theworld. Some see the return of our individual savior, or Christ Self, asthe Higher Self.(Note: Yahweh, a variation of YHVH, theunpronounceable name of God, was originally not the Mighty Father God,but the energy of the creator, both masculine and feminine. Two of theHebrew characters are associated with masculine energy and two withfeminine energy, making a balanced whole. The four letters themselvesare associated with the four elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water. The letters arranged in a vertical column, is also the symbol of theAdam Kadmon. See below. YHVH is not strictly a patriarchal energy.)What is Lightbody?Thelightbody, also known as the Adam Kadmon body, is the divine blueprintof humanity, the ultimate expression of ourselves as individuals. As wescientifically discover that our physical solid matter is actually alot of empty space and orbiting sub atomic particles, our notions ofconsciousness change. Further discoveries have shown these "solid"particles simultaneously behave as waves of energy and packets of"light." Activation of the lightbody simply means humanity'sconsciousness is focusing less on the physical reality and more on theenergy/light reality, basing our self image on light and vibration. There are many techniques and schools to activate the lightbody, andeveryone has their own path. The sacred geometry of the Merkaba is onesuch way. The Mystic Merkaba MeditationAfterpracticing the various forms of the Merkaba as taught by others, I wasguided to experiment with a different version. Still based on sacredgeometry, the Mystic Merkaba meditation focuses on the elementalassociations with each of the five platonic solids, activating yourEarth, Water, Air, Fire and Spirit aspects. I have found this versionto be the most beneficial for me, and share it now with my students. Ihighly recommend Merkaba activation prior to Shamballa Reiki attunements, but it is not mandatory. As always, I encourage others to do what is right for them.
