Guest guest
This morning, Raven and I got up early and Raven sang at a memorial service at her Cub's school. One of Cub's friends and classmates, a young girl, died of Spina Bifida. It was beautifully done. All the children from the whole school were there, and so was a priest. Mass was held and everyone paid their respects. Many of the children cried. Aboriginals are openly discriminated against in Canada worse than blacks are discriminated against in the US, but it was nice to see that the deceased girl's father, and of course Raven, were not at all treated poorly. Indeed, Raven was asked by the schools principal to sing. The lesson I learned: In a society that is discriminatory against those with disabilities (what this girl called, different abilities while she was alive...and I think I will have to adopt that term going forward) and against Aboriginals, for the length of one memorial service, there was hope.
