Guest guest
I spoke to my pediatrician today (not a DAN) and he said he would give me a prescription so that I can get my son tested for food allergies. He said what did I want him tested for. I wasn't sure but he mentioned that there are basic foods that are tested such as milk, nuts, I can't remember the rest. Are there any specific foods that I should also have my son tested for. Is there a list somewhere that I can print out. I'm also getting my son tested for celiac disease. Has anyone had their kids/teens tested for celiac disease. I started my son on the GF/CF on Sunday and I wanted to know if I should stop it until I get the celiac test done. You know I started the diet Sunday, and last night he had his first good bowel movement in a long time. He didn't have diarrhea. Hope I'm on the right track. Thanks, If I can get some responses by tomorrow that would be great since I'm picking up the prescription tomorrow at the pediatrician. Guest guest
we used Genove Daignostics and they tested for lots of foods-they have their own list. I am not sure how accurate any of them can be-if you haven't eaten the food on the list in months or years or never-how can you test allergic. I do know he tested extremely allergic to tomatoes and I don't think he has had anything with tomatoes in 6 years. well, maybe ai judt don't know much about this. Guest guest
If you are having your son tested for celiac disease you should not remove gluten utnil after you have the tests done. Once you remove gluten the tests will not be accurate. --------------- Ezorsezor@... Guest guest
We did the celiac testing which came back negative, the prick testing with an allergist and again negatives. Our Dan doctor said one of the requirements for his patients was the gfcf diet so we started it and never looked back. My son is a responder.his changes were apparent within the first week. Some of these test will not matter if your son is a responder. Yes, you have to put gluten back in the diet to test for celiac. Most of my celiac friends were not confirmed the first time either. But they removed gluten and their symptoms cleared up. The gfcf diet has been the hardest protocal to follow but it has also been the only rewarding one. We also had the blood spot testing done and found out there were 15 foods my son was sensitive to and even after a year on the diet he was still positive for gluten and dairy. > > I spoke to my pediatrician today (not a DAN) and he said he would give me a prescription so that I can get my son tested for food allergies.
