Guest guest
Does anyone admit pt's for a kidney transplant eval? If so, what happens if a pt has dialysis during the stay? Can the stay be written to the cost report? Thank you, Felicia Elizondo Transplant Intake Coordinator CHRISTUS Transplant Institute
Guest guest
HI Felicia, Admitting a patient for evaluation is not a problem and in the best of worlds the patient would be admitted the afternoon of the day of dialysis and all tests completed that afternoon. The physicians and surgeons would do their consults the next morning and the patient would go home that afternoon. There would be no need for a “treatment” at that point. I do not think that the dialysis can be written off, I believe that it will need to be billed. The rest of the bill for the evaluation (which, as you remember, is a “non-covered service”) would be written off like any other evaluation service. Hope this helps, Thanks, Bill From: TxFinancialCoordinators [mailto:TxFinancialCoordinators ] On Behalf Of ELIZONDO, FELICIA Sent: Monday, February 11, 2008 2:41 PM To: TxFinancialCoordinators Subject: Admit Question Does anyone admit pt's for a kidney transplant eval?
