Guest guest
Ok, so my son runs back and forth constantly still so I had to really think back to be able to answer your question, but the answer is yes. We have had three Igg food allergy tests, and there was one food, bananas, that really aggravated his stimming. Don't get me wrong, he still does his stimms consistantly, but I realized after everytime he had bananas, it was like a guaranteed stim of about an hour of running back and forth and giggling and just going, well, bananas. So with that removal, he doesn't have those bouts of just long uncontrolable and unstopable stims, he just stims. Hope that helps, -s
Guest guest
just to add my thoughts based on my personal experience with my son. my son does the same thing when exposed to foods high in salicylates (therefore, he has a phenol sensitivity). we also follow the feingold diet which helps eliminate exposure to foods and products high in salicylates. Salicylates can be found as a preservative, food dye, added chemicals. Giving my son an epsom salt bath at the end of the day actually helps him when he gets this way at bedtime. Some parents also get kirkman lab's magnesium cream and rub it on their skin to help calm a child (got that advice from listening to a dandr speak). some parents have had success using the digestive enzyme, " no phenol " from houston. consider reading up this at: http://www.feingold.org/ Another link to read up on this is at danasview at: http://www.danasview.net/phenol.htm For a food guide, see: http://www.salicylatesensitivity.com/food-guide hope this helps, budsmom > > Ok, so my son runs back and forth constantly still so I had to really > think back to be able to answer your question, but the answer is yes. > We have had three Igg food allergy tests, and there was one food, > bananas, that really aggravated his stimming. Guest guest
I know Yasko uses either Benfotiamine (fat soluble B-1) or IP 6 for stimming. I have heard several parents report great success with Benfotiamine, the recommended dosage is up to 300 mgs, although the Moms' I know found they got great results with 80 mgs per day. Guest guest
having foods out that irritate should help as well as vit A as this is commonly associated with viral issues in kids Recovering from Autism is a marathonNOT a sprint, but FULLY possible!Read more about it on my BLOGs athttp://www.myspace.com/christelkinghttp://foggyrock.com/MyPage/recoveringwishes Stimming and Food Intolerances??? We are making great progress with our son with speech, comprehension, social skills, etc., but we still can't tackle the stimming issue. After going GFCF, my son's verbal stimming reduced dramatically and is still way less than it used to be. But, he still does the running back and forth, wiggles fingers sometimes and it usually starts once he gets a little toy in his hand. Alot of times he appears "NT" when we go out somewhere, but when we get home he might start running around and making noises. Also, he seems to do this more sometimes after he eats. Do food intolerances leak just like casein and gluten?? We are scheduled to get the testing done in October and was just wondering if food intolerances can cause stimming? Does anyone know? We have made HUGE improvements in the yeast department. In fact, it was almost in the normal range on his last OAT. Anyone see a reduction/elimination of stims after removing certain foods?
