Guest guest
, You are correct. It is important to know the weight verses height, also age. Mark is 9 years 1 month is 49 pounds and 49 inches. He is in the 5% for height and not on the chart for weight. Thanks for pointing that out~ Autumn Mother to Mark Cd5 PID/ Samter's syndrome
Guest guest
Cassie has never really been above 5% on weight, and she has sat about 10% on height. What really got her ped going was the fact that she started out at 75% and just started dropping about the 9th month of life. She now weighs about 25 lbs, and I am not sure on height. We go for our next infusion on Monday. Belinda Rose mom to Cassie, igg immunodefficient, chronic sinusitis, asthma
Guest guest
, Yes, the reason why there is a % difference between Zach and Mark is because there is almost a three year age difference. Mark's height should be much higher as should his weight for his age. Yes, Mark is very thin and ribs are obviously seen. When graphing the % on the growth curves they mark it by age. Is your son on any supplemental feeding? Autumn Mother to Mark Cd5 PID and Samter's syndrome.

Guest guest
Kinsey is very tall (52 inches & 54 lbs.)- 95% and weight is in the 60%. She looks very thin, however, I am tall and thin too. So they don't seem to worried about that. Another question to pose to all - Kinsey is very pale - China like skin. Anybody else out there? Her light skin tone is different from mine or her dad's. Guest guest
Hi, I'm Wanda. I just read your letter and it sounds like my little girl , shes going to be 5 next mth. She has always had a funny color about her, and her weight she has always had problems with, like I said she's going to be 5 and she only weighs 38 lbs. She has had other medical problems so they try to tell me that's why and that she'll be fine don't worry. I just found out about this site, I wish I would have found it 2 years ago. And your the first person I have written to so I'm not quit sure what to say. Wanda
Guest guest
Simon was also a large baby at birth 9#2oz but he was slow to gain and up until about a year ago he was always aroung 5% on height and weight. Now he is 4 and is about 35 # still not large especially compared to his brother who has always been in the 95% on height and weight, but my husbands family is large and mine is small so he might come by it naturally. As far as location i live in New Mexico, close to Alburquerqe. Anyone know why my messages get posted twice? Guest guest
Hi everyone. I have 2 children with immune problems. is 4 1/2 and since she was 3 wks hasn't been well. She was born with Neuroblastoma (cancer), since she has developed colitis, IGG immune def., an eating disorder since she was about 18 mths., allergies to dairy, citrus, beef, red food coloring, cats, dust., eczema, herpes simplex, I think thats it. She's been getting infusions for about 1 1/2 yrs and she handles them like a pro, wish mommy could. She has veins like a pre mature baby so it's hard to get the iv started, her veins keep collapsing. Then we have Luke he's 2, since he was born he has been just plan sick one virus after another, asthma, the same allergies, irritable bowel syndrome, and we just had him tested for the deficiency and we were told his is incurrable, i don't remember what the dr. called it exactly but whichever one it is, his T-cells and B-cells are there but they don't do anything at all, so we have him on the antibiotics daily, try to keep him confined as much as possible without driving him crazy, he is going to be starting the infusions soon. He also has had surgery on his eyes because the muscles aren't strong enough, and he's had tubes in his ears, and is getting ready for another set, he's losing the hearing in his left ear, and because of these 2 he's having a hard time talking. I thought I had problems until I read some of the other letters and my heart goes out to all of you and your families. It really makes me wonder why all of our children have to go through these problems, but it seems as though they handle them better than we do. Well, I think I have poured my baby's problems out enough on everyone for one night. Thanks for listening and I hope I can do the same for any of you. Guest guest
Autum, That's interseting... Mark at 9 is aprox the same height and weight as Zach is at 6 yrs 5 mos old and his % are so much different, I guess that's because the % are based on age too. So you can count Marks Ribs too. right? Zachary eats very well, I think he matabolizes things quickly. He literally eats the same or more than me at meal times. He'll eat just about any foods too. But we just can't seem to fatten him up. Guest guest
Belinda, Zach was born at 10 lbs 22.5 in. long....off the charts in the other way, but he leveled out and started dropping % for weight by 6 mos. I'ld say most of the time he's been 90% height and 25% for weight...until the last six months(since IVIG), his gap is now closing. Guest guest
Yes, Zachary has had that pale, almost greyish/yellowish tinge to his skin. Almost the color of an ill elderly person. I have noticed that it has been better since IVIG, so I tend to think his poor coloring was due to illness. I was in the hospital today and noticed many of the chemo kids having that color too. Guest guest
Wanda I'm glad you were able to subscribe. I hope my directions weren't to garbled. When you get a chance send in a quick intro and let us know little bit about , what PID she has, what treatments you've tried or a doing and alittle bit about your family. For everyone else I'm working on putting the archives on a secure page on the PedPID page. That way only we can get to them. Keep a lookout. This might be alittle easier than navigating the Onelist site. Guest guest
Janet, when I look at your emails I see that you are copying yourself on your emails. Some email programs do this automatically , so.... you are getting one copy from the list provider (Onelist) and one from yourself. Check the Cc: field in your email. Or check your " preferences " on the email program and see if you have this feature turned on. Guest guest
Sue, I'm so sorry for you. Don't get caught up in the terms though. Some Dr.'s are completely ignorant of our basic human FEELINGS. This child is under constant care and YOU know he is thriving!!!!! I've looked at everyone's height/weight and I've come to a conclusion, It looks as though each PID chils w/weight troubles weighs aprox 1lb per 1 inch. I don't personally agree with the % charts because they compare our children to the general population of kids their age. And let's face it, our kids don't fit the " generalizations " . We all do our best for our children. Let's feel sorry for that ignorant Dr. and pray that he will someday he'll learn compassion.
