Guest guest
Another thought is -- if UHC is making you continue to see patients until 4/16/09 and you really don't want to see these patients -- you could send out an announcement to the patients telling them about your plans to drop UHC in April 2009. That way they may start dropping out of your care sooner. Then you can fill in other patients/insurance you want to see. If you really want to keep UHC but with better rates, perhaps you could let UHC know you are dropping them and about to send out your mailing unless they meet your demands -- X, Y, Z. If they don't -- go ahead and do the mailing -- which is what you planned to do anyway. Just a thought. Their contract says that you have to give them 90d notice, but can't do it until your anniversary date of signing the contract. In other words, if you signed in October, you can give notice that as of October you won't see their patients any more, and tell them that in July, 90d before your anniversary. But if you signed in Feb, you have to wait until at least 90 d before the Feb date of your contract. We were within a month, and had already notified the patients, so it worked out for us. Call their client services person, and get them to put it in writing. Cote' -------------- Original message -------------- From: drmarge@... I had sent my letter to Oxford/United few weeks ago. Just got back a letter from them that I have to see their patients until 4/16/2009??? Of course the contracts that I had signed were done several years ago when I was employed somewhere else and I don't have copies. I have asked them to send me copies of the contract but have to say, I thought 90 days would have been plenty of time. Not sure where they are getting 7 months from- was hoping to be rid of them by the New Year!Margaret Coughlan
