Special Needs Stroller Recommendation

We just returned from a vacationin Florida with the realization that we

desperately need some type of special needs stroller for our son, age 5

1/2 (65 lbs.). He wasn't able to " keep up " , especially in the heat,

and Mom and Dad weren't able to carry him (especially in the heat!).

We don't need anything elaborate...pretty much an umbrella stroller

that he will fit into given his size that won't break our next vacation

budget.

Has anyone purchased something similar that they are happy with and

might recommend?

We have the Maclaren Major stroller. I believe it holds up to 145 pounds or so, if I remember correctly. It folds up like an umbrella stroller. It is fairly lightweight (compared to other heavy-duty strollers/wheelchairs out there). We love it. It was around $500.00. We got a script/letter of medical necessity from our ortho (he uses AFOs, gets tired after a short distance and we are unable to carry, wandering/safety issues) and it was covered under insurance, though took a while. We do not have any of the extras, just the basic stroller and it works out fine. We don't even use the footrest (it separates from the stroller in order for it to fold and we just found it a hassle to keep putting it on and taking it off) and don't need it anyway. Our son is 8-1/2 years old and weighs 45 pounds. Please
