Thanks, ,

Bionix rings a bell now.

As someone noted, the Shot Blocker isn't listed on their site anymore and some other websites say it's no longer available.

This site might have some -- but I couldn't figure out if it was a merchant site or auction site -- I couldn't see a buy now button to just buy it.

And don't confuse the shotblocker with the shotblocker

McKenzie’s new ShotBlocker™ targets are the ultimate in layered foam practice targets. They feature our patented Welded Core™ construction that eliminates the need for platens, plates, cables, wires, straps or bands. What you get is a tougher target in which the layers or sheets can’t shift, move or fall apart. They can be shot on all four sides and best of all, the foam slivering that you get from most layered targets when shooting broadheads is greatly reduced. All this, plus easy arrow removal!

The Bowhunter features a heart, liver, and lungs target face on two sides and a nine-spot target on the other two sides.

Bionix Medical Technologies (Toledo, OH) offers the ShotBlocker™, a medical device that works through a novel application of the gate control theory of pain management. The gate control theory states that a gating mechanism exists in the spinal cord through which pain and sensory signals travel to the brain. ShotBlocker stimulates the skin at the injection site with multiple blunt skin contact points; this sensation “closes” the “gate” to block the flow of pain signals to the brain.

The study was aimed to determine the effectiveness of ShotBlocker in reducing pain associated with intramuscular injections. The study revealed that the baseline characteristics based on age, height and weight of those who were randomized to the ShotBlocker group were comparable with those who did not have the device. The results showed that 93.2% of those with ShotBlocker experienced mild to no pain compared to 51.7% of those without ShotBlocker. Regardless of the gender, those with the device had significantly lower pain scores than those without the device. The conclusion showed that the ShotBlocker, a flexible plastic device with multiple contact points on its underside, significantly reduces pain associated with intramuscular injection. This may allay the fear of getting a shot.ShotBlocker is the invention of Huttner, M.D., Ph.D., a practicing pediatrician and co-founder of Bionix Medical Technologies, a Toledo, Ohio based medical device company.
