We have tried working with the Camcorder on tripod but found a much better

solution. You can buy a video surveillance camera system for about a hundred

bucks at Sam's Club. It comes with two cameras and a monitor etc. The cameras

can be screwed into the wall and are only about 2 by 3 inches big. You can

put them on two different walls (one of the problems we had with the

camcorder was catching therapy away from the table). You can then run the

cables, which are fifty feet long, to go into the monitor, this is perfect

for our basement therapy room-we ran the cables up through the floor and the

monitor sits on our entertainment center. We use RCA cables to go from the

monitor to the VCR, and the regular CO axial cable to go from VCR to TV. This

way we can watch what is going on and record from upstairs.

This was the most economical way to do it. Our camcorder does not record

extended play, only slow play, so it saves on tapes to record from the

monitor. It is black and white and the picture is not as brilliant as with a

cam corder but it is good enough to see what is happening. Also, you can set

the timer go back and forth from one camera to the other, or set so you only

get one image.

Does anyone have practical solutions for close captioning and

recording ABA sessions with a camcorder? What I have in mind is to

set up a camcorder on a tripod in the room where my son has his

sessions and then view it in another room, where I also have a VCR.

I need to know what kinds of cables I should use, and if I need to

use some kind of adapter if the RCA cables have limited range.

Thanks in advance
