Guest guest
I have a patient that has Medicare part A only at this time, and will not be eligible for part B until July 1st of this year. This is the only insurance this patient has now. He is a Veteran that has received services at the VA. The patient is being referred to our transplant facility for the liver work-up and transplant. We could have all testing performed there with only minimal medical charges (write - off) here if the physicians agree, but would he count as a medicare reimbursable liver on the cost report? My administrator would like for me to find out before we accept this patient. Please help.... _____

Guest guest
Since Medicare would be the primary payer for services rendered @ your facility, or any facility outside of the VA, then he would count as a Medicare pt when it comes to the actual tx surgery.
