Guest guest
My 7-year-old, Charlie, (AS and ADHD) I have described previously as learning very rapidly (in chunks) when he is ready. Until then, forget it. He hit a math phase (fortunately) a few months ago, and has been sailing along in math (especially those boring worksheets with rows and rows of addition and subtraction facts - he never misses one.) However, he has not really " chunked " yet in reading, writing, or spelling. Exciting news! Today I brought home a bright red metallic tray (about the size and shape of a cookie sheet) along with 200 metallic words. These are common words, many of which he apparently knows. It is color coded - green for nouns, red for verbs, etc. Anyway, I was not sure what his reaction might be. But, he has now been sitting here on the couch in my office for over two hours, making up sentences with the magnetic words! He is especially enjoying the funny sentences he is making up (silly ) -) !! He is refusing to go to bed because he is having so much fun. It is way past his bedtime, but . . . . .well sometimes things are just too exciting. Best regards, Betty Jo Marshall
