Guest guest
Sorry to hear that the Dragon has returned. What has your doctors said should be the next course of action? Lynne From: Hepatitis_C_Central [mailto:Hepatitis_C_Central ] On Behalf Of Diane Sent: Monday, February 04, 2008 10:14 PM To: Hepatitis_C_Central Subject: The Dragon Returns Hello Again everyone, We found out today that the virus has returned. After a year of treatment, my honey is too weak to start round 2 at this time. He is just starting to regain his strength and clear much of the mental fog that he was struggling with. The itchy spots are gone but they have left scars. The chemo induced diabetes is under control. Anyway, while we are reeling from the news, we still are determined to kill this nasty bugger once and for all. I remember reading, before I left this group, that there was a pill form of medicine that was in clinical trial and they were having great results with. Ring a bell anyone? Oh we are Geno 1a. Thanks for all your previous support and I am sorry we need you again. Perhaps there are experiences we had that may be of help to others... Guest guest
Hi Diane, Im so very sorry that your virus has returned,,, did they say how high your viral load was? How long were you clear? We've heard of ppl relapsing only to find out that they had not relapsed, but the test equipment was not properly cleaned in between tests,, and so sometimes your test might be contaminated by the previous test... Guest guest
well he must have 'just' relapsed then,, that is a fairly low viral load,, so maybe when they retest it, it might really be undetecible,, lets hope so!!!! Keep us posted too, ok? Diane wrote: Thank you for your prompt replies… Doctor says that my sweetie is too weak to start round 2 of the peg & ribo treatment at this time. He wants to recheck the viral load again in 6 months. Viral load originally was 339,000….he tested clear after 48 weeks of treatment. We had to stop treatment early (instead of the 52 weeks Doctor wanted to treat) as his red & white blood counts were past dangerously low and had been for quite some time. He has been off treatment for 5 months. Now his viral load is relatively low…1300. The year he was on treatment was very hard on him in every possible way. Doctor was very interested when we told him we had read about an oral pill that was in clinical trial for people with 1a. Thanks for finding it …..I’ll do more research and forward to our doctor. Thanks so much….. Jackie

Guest guest
The pill forms of polymerase and capsase inhibitors are taken with an interferon type drug and riba . I can get info on either of these if you like since they are both still in clinicals although one of them has been fda fast tracked for approval . Guest guest
Oh Diane, I am so sorry. What a bummer. Welcome back, though we wish with all our hearts you would have never had need to again. Since you were last here, I've started a sister group to this one called Hepatitis_C_Central_Caregivers It is exclusively for those caring for someone with Hep C. Please DO NOT unsubscribe from this group but consider joining our Caregivers group as well. Luv anne The Dragon Returns > Hello Again everyone, > We found out today that the virus has returned.
