Grace Extraordinary Parent grand prize winner

If any of you have been following the Grace Extraordinary

Parent contest, here is news on the winner. ( is a member of my local

support group…she was diagnosed with breast cancer a couple of years ago…her

son, , who has Ds,was diagnosed with leukemia when he had blood work drawn

for his heart repair. Both are doing well now, although had another scare

this past week. She truly is an amazing person, and very deserving of the

award.

Hello friends. The wait is over and I can finally share the good

news.

I was recently a finalist in Grace's (CNN Headline

News) Extraordinary Parents Contest.

Well the good news I had to wait until today to share is that I am

the Grand Prize Winner!

We taped a show last Tuesday night, via satellite, and it will air

tonight at 8 PM EST on her show on CNN Headline News. We all fly to New York

tomorrow, for 3 days, to meet Grace on the set and enjoy some of the

sites of NYC as a family. We are so excited!

You will find out during the interview that I was diagnosed with

cancer to the left ovary this past Tuesday, just before the show taped. Well,

the good news is that after the show was taped, I had a PET scan on Friday and

it shows NO spread of the disease. Aside from some spleen abnormalities, all is

good! In fact, because I had the preventative hysterectomy (which is how they

found it), on May 2, they caught it so early that I won't have to have chemo! I

guess that makes me a survivor? I am so relieved and blessed to have this

news. It proves that a person HAS to be proactive about their health. They

canceled my surgery once and it looked like it was going to be a year before my

hubby and I could get the vacation time off from work to do this. Thank God Dr.

Method was able to work my surgery in on a Friday night!
