Guest guest
The swelling/stiffness of 's ankle was at its peak on Fri./Sat. Did some cold water soaks Fri. and children's Advil for 48 hrs. It did help. By Sun., there was very little swelling/stiffness and even that was gone by Mon. He now navigates by scooting on his behind, using his left foot to propel mimself forward, with his right leg crossed in front of him. He tolerates it being touched, moved, even gentle manipulation. He will allow me to check the range of motion of the foot/ankle, and it seems to be near normal. Yet, he still will not put any weight on it. So, today, the pediatrician put a piece of cotton wrapped casting material behind his right calf/ankle and bottom of the foot, which he then wrapped with ACE bandage to immobilize it. He wants to give it 2 weeks to heal and then recheck it, possibly xray again. He said a hairline fracture often will not show up on xray, until it is healed. If it is a growth plate injury, I don't know how that can be dtermined or how long that would take to heal. So, no weight bearing or range of motion exercising in PT for 2 weeks. I wonder what his physical therapist will do with him? I borrowed a Sit 'N Spin for him, today. For a little guy who was always on the move, it gets kind of boring to be down on the floor all the time. We can't pull him in his wagon and swing him in his swing all day. And I limit him to no more than 2 DVD's a day. Going to be a long two weeks! I hope he is walking again by his birthday, middle of next month! Blessings!
