Guest guest
I'm never quite sure how to classify my son. He is verbal, can tell you his wants and is begining to speak in sentences more and more but you cannot hold a conversation with him. Guest guest
I'm not familiar with the DISTAR reading, but my son started the DISTAR language and I am trying to find a copy of that program to continue, since the program was not continued when my son changed classes. If your kids are computer oriented, you might want to look into the Fast ForWord program. My son went through that program when he was 8. He had some verbal language but it was very hard to understand. That program helped him tremendously. This was one of the most beneficial therapies that we have done for my son. Stipulations of the program--child must be able to tolerate headphones and sit at the computer for up to 1-1/2 hours (breaks permitted between segments but can't break until completing a section) and must have the intelligence level to be able to figure out what the program wants him to do. Intensive, 6-8 week program, 5 days a week. It's just like discrete trial learning on the computer. If you want further info, email me directly.
