Re. Transfer trials

Hi fellow ABA'ers,

I'm trying to clarify an Errorless teaching/learning point & am having some

difficulty.

I'm aware that if (1) the same antecedent is repeated after a prompted

response ( due to an initial non-response or potential incorrect

response) and the child responds correct independently s/he gets a higher

reinforcement level (potentially primary reinforcer & higher level of social

praise ) as a consequence. However, people have written about & our

consultant says that two transfer trials ( different antecedents than the one

initially used can be done , for e.g. 2 easy body pt. receptives or an easy

body pt. receptive and an easy pic. receptive; Then, return to the initial

antecedent trying to illicit the correct response. Would this two transfer

trial procedure only be performed if the child was correctly responding to

(1) above consistently, would it be mixed in w/ (1) above , could it be done

in place of (1) above (especially if the child verbally or non-verbally

iimitates prompted responses automatically )? If the two transfer trial

procedure is used would the child get an even higher level of reinforcement

if he then provided the correct response to the original antecedent?

Any thoughts on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Again, I'll try to

summarize people's thought's on the list if appropriate.

Sincerely Thank's

Larry ( 8 yr old Keit'hs - bicenturion dad)
