You need to have all things in place: yeast control, viral control and bacteria control. I have not heard much success w/ augmentin for PANDAS. We did biaxin for years followed by Keflex for strep, along with uva ursi for yeast, but diflucan is better, however diflucan burns up the liver. We also do Valtrex for viruses along with other natural antivirals, probiotics enzymes and a special diet, specific carb, modified atkin and others. My son is great when diet is under control but he steals food all the time.

I had a phone consult with Dr Kovacevic yesterday..He treats PANDAS kids. He had spoken with my Kaiser Dr on how to treat my son. Dr K said my son also needed to take 600mg daily of augmentin for 3 months and then a weekly dose. I did feel that to treat PANDAS it sounds like IVIG & anti-biotics are the key. I asked my Kaiser Dr for augmentin and he said let's wait..So my DAN was talking about a trial of valtrex too and now I am feeling like we have too much going on and what should be tried first? My son did have some high viral ## so maybe valtrex first? I'd like to find out if valtrex helped your kid ....
