Guest guest
I apologize in advance for the cross post-but am trying to get feedback from a wide variety of people. My question relates to acquiring certification as a BCBA. I understand the course requirements and am planning on pursuing that through Penn States program. If anyone has gone through it, or has knowledge of it I'd appreciate feedback--good and bad). My biggest issue is getting the supervised or mentor experience. I am really unclear what exactly is required for this. I'd also like to know how people found mentors/supervisors. I worked as a lead therapist for Wisc Early Autism Project for 2 years, but I don't think it fulfills the requirements, as the Senior therapist was ultimately repsonsible for writing the programs. This was also a " workshop " case-she travelled in town every 8-12 weeks. We talked weekly for an hour to problem solve, etc. She was not a BCBA-actually I think Dr. Swallows is one of the few BCBA's in Wisconsin-but she was truly outstanding! I am currently working in St Louis for the public school system as their Autism/Behavior Coordinator (very few BCBA's in Missouri). This is a full time position and those supervising me have NO knowledge or experience in ABA. Any ideas or clarification that anyone can offer would be GREATLY apreciated. I really want to do this and do it right--these kids need and deserve the very best! Oh my previous education is undergrad-Elem & SPecial Education Masters Degree Early Childhood Special Ed. You can email me privately @ mtoney7@... Thanks in advance for tolerating this lengthy message across groups!
