Guest guest
Hello everyone. I am still trying to work this out. I was very excited to see that there are some wonderful conferences happening in GA (Partington is giving a 3 day intro conference in atlanta) and two SLPs are speaking at the FEAT of NC conference. However, I still feel as though there just has to be parents in the upper portion of the ABLLS or the last bit of their Lovaas programs who don't need another intro workshop or " this is the basics of ABA " . If you live close to the Clemson, SC area (atlanta, charlotte, etc) and think that you would like to attend a conference that deals with upper level stuff in language and social skills (beyond social stories!) then please email me at mailto: eahcsc@... I have a list of questions that I would like to know. I have spoken with McGreevy and he actually recommended that I try Sundberg or Carbone first. I am also considering some NON-ABA speakers to do " small workshops " such as Nowicki on Nonverbal Language disorders, etc in addition to a " MAIN " ABA speaker on advanced skills. Here is a list of questions that I would like to know. I need to know how many people would even attend. I need at least 30 to make it economically feasible for someone like McGreevy to come. 1. Would you be likely to attend a 2 day conference? 2. What specifics of the upper portion of the ABLLS or ABA would you like addressed in terms of language? 3. What specifics would you like addressed in social skills? 4. Is there a speaker that you believe is well suited to address those 'last nine yards' of ABA? 5. Would you be willing to pay up to 125 dollars for such a two day conference? (I really want to see how to keep the prices lower as I assume many of us who have done ABA a while must be in debt!!) 6. Any other ideas and thoughts. 7. You want your name on a contact list to hear of developments. I honestly feel that our needs as parents and professionals are not yet being served in this area. Perhaps I am wrong but rather than complain about it year after year, I thought maybe I would actually practice what I preach. Please email me privately if you can. Thanks, mailto: eahcsc@...
