Guest guest Posted July 22, 2008 Report Share Posted July 22, 2008 Kaufman will be at Saint ’s College in Notre Dame, IN on Sept 12, 2008 for an all day workshop for parents and professionals…we have tried very hard to make this affordable for everyone ($50 for professionals, which includes CEUs for SLPs) $20 for parents, and $10 for students. The registration fee also includes lunch and a morning snack. See attached brochure for details. Although DSFSAG is sponsoring the workshop, ANY interested parent or professional is encouraged to attend. Here is more information about Kaufman: R. Kaufman, M.A., CCC/SLP is the Director of the Kaufman Children's Center for Speech, Language, Sensory-Motor, and Social Connections, Inc. (KCC). The KCC has been open since 1992, and now houses a large staff of talented and exceptional speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, behavior analysts, a reading specialist, and a psychologist. has specialized in children with communication challenges for over twenty five years. She is the author of The Kaufman Speech Praxis Test for Children, published in 1995 by Wayne State University Press, The Kaufman Speech Praxis Treatment Kit for Children:Basic Level, The Kaumfan Speech Praxis Treatment Kit for Children:Advanced Level, The Kaufman Speech Praxis Workout Book, and The K & K Sign and Say, all published by Northern Speech Services. She lectures locally, nationally, and internationally on the subject of apraxia of speech in children. Families from around the country and Canada travel to the KCC to participate in intensive and specialized programs created to meet the needs of their children. She received her bachelor's degree at Michigan State University, and Master's Degree at Wayne State University, having been awarded a Graduate Assistantship. She has three children of her own. is highly regarded as an expert in her specialized field of apraxia of speech, and consults with parents and professionals the world over. The Applied Verbal Behavior Program (AVB) has recently adopted the Kaufman Approach into their protocol for children on the spectrum of autism. The KCC is also becoming well known for their work with autism, PDD, auditory-linguistic processing challenges, and sensory integrative challenges in children.
