And then it's off to Churchill Downs for the May 3 Derby.Pyro's latest win simply reaffirmed his status as a prime Derby contender, but undefeated War Pass remains No. 1 in the latest Associated Press' Run to the Roses' Top 10 list. Pyro, who won the Risen Star with a last-to-frst stretch run Feb. 9, stays No. 2 with all three of his losses coming last year against undefeated War Pass.Asked before the Louisiana Derby whether Pyro would be able to turn the tables on War Pass this year, Asmussen said, "My focus is on preparing Pyro for the Derby and knowing how much time and distance and how much work is needed to be put in between now and then. ... If we're standing in the paddock (at the Derby), that would be a good time to worry about him. From this far out, we've got our own concerns."Pyro, with jockey Shaun Bridgmohan aboard, isn't Asmussen's only Derby hopeful. On Saturday, the trainer of 2007 Horse of the Year Curlin will send out Z Fortune to take on unbeaten Denis of Cork in the Rebel at Oaklawn Park.War Pass continues to train well in Florida for trainer Nick Zito, and is set for his second start of the year in Saturday's Tampa Bay Derby. The 2-year-old champion and Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner captured an allowance race at Gulfstream Park on Feb. 24 for his fifth straight win. Zito also trains No. 4-rated Cool Coal Man, winner of the Fountain of Youth.Three new horses joined the Top 10 after impressive efforts in Louisiana and New York.Visionaire won the Gotham Stakes at Aqueduct after a remarkable last-to-first run in the slop and edged Texas Wildcatter by a nose. The colt trained by Matz - Barbaro's trainer - moves in at No. 7, while Yankee Bravo checks in at No. 8 after a strong third-place run in the Louisiana Derby. Z Fortune is No. 10.Majestic Warrior and Tale of Ekati, third and fourth in last week's Top 10, dropped out after finishing off the board in the Louisiana Derby. Georgie Boy dropped into the horses to watch group. The San Felipe at Santa Anita also is set for Saturday. The field is expected to include Georgie Boy, Bob Black Jack and Gayego.Autism Awareness stormed onto the Derby scene with a stunning win in the El Camino Real Derby at Bay Meadows at odds of 62-1. The colt was 0-for-12 before breaking his maiden in the race before the El Camino Real.Autism Awareness is owned by Taboada, whose son Renzo was diagnosed with autism at age 2. "We have decided to do whatever we can to increase the public's knowledge of this problem," he said. "My wife, Hedieh, had the idea to name a racehorse to promote this."
