Guest guest
Hello all. Wanted to get some suggestions on how to get more spontaneous language. Especially tacts and commenting. I have tried the videos and the pauseing, but it seems he awaits the PAUSE or the mute before illiciting resposes. The thoughts were that if he finds the video that reinforcing he will try and AVOID the pausing and start illocitng spontaneous commenting. This hasnt transferred. Has this happened with anyone else? Also, suggestions on getting beyond manding for just immediate reinforcing activites and objects. My son will say (in one breath) " Mom, wake up. Open the door, I need the keys, I want green swing, I need bathing suit, lets go outside, lets go swimming " (this is what I wake up to most mornings) However, once his needs are met, he does not spontaneously tact or comment on things. Or even to go beyond his immediate reinforcing manding repitore. Like manding for past events or reinfrocing activites. Or commenting or talking when he is NOT engaged with me or teachers. I think sometimes that for him his ABLLS is quite decieving since he has many many skills and we do lots of NET but his spontaneous commenting or talking is not beyond asking for immediate reinfrocing actions or things. Especially if someone is not engaging him. He knows many many intraverbals and you can go on and on with intraverbal stories that need him to fill in the blanks.. but it is his spontanoues initiation of saying things whne not asked to or when not expected to that he seems deficited at. Any suggestions that you have done? I know how it is supposed to work, and how to program for it, but it is always great to hear what others have done who have " been there , had that problem. " I would love to hear some NOVEL examples on how you promoted this. Thanks!
