Hi, I have a 4 year old son (PDD,verbal on basic wants, needs with

some spontaneous language; " hyperlexic like " with early learning of

letters, numbers and incredible visual skills). He has been

receiving speech twice a week through the school system since June

and is close to meeting his IEP goals for the school year but the

progress is VERY SLOW. Conversations still elude us and he does a lot

of scripting. I was interested in looking into Floortime and Verbal

Behavior Analysis and was wondering how to find someone in my area to

help us. We live in the " Black Hole of Child Developmental Problems " -

-south Alabama. My son generally isn't a behavior problem (other than

eating and taking supplements--ugh!) and I don't think ABA would be

appropriate. His playskills are pretty poor as well.

Any ideas on where/how to start? I've also been trying to get an OT

to work with my son since last October and we're trying to do some

things ourselves since I've given up! So far we're doing a lot of

swinging and riding tricycles--we've also worked with different

textures of molding compounds--any other ideas? His fine motor

skills are actually quite advanced. We recently went through AIT

(mainly because of his strong visual skills) and I'm hoping to work

with him as much as possible to augment any benefit. I've considered

buying a toy that rolls the child around and a trampoline. I'm

encouraged that he will now swing on his swingset which is something

he wouldn't do from ages 1 1/2 to 4.
