Being that it's a LD (living donor) liver, the donor services are billed according to the payors instructions. You would need a billing form from the transplant facility and instructions as too how to bill for the services. Also, some payors may require all services get billed under the recipient's name, while others may require a donor billing modifier on the bill to identify the donor.

Could someone please enlighten me on the billing practices for a Live Liver Donor. Our program is starting a live liver donor program and we are sketchy at best about the billing and insurance practices for the donor.

Could someone from a center that performs live liver donor transplants let me know some of the basics. I would really appreciate your assistance.
