Guest guest
Hi! I am a parent of a newly diagnosed dd who just turned three today. She was diagnosed with Autism in April. She is now finished with the EI program. Now I am on my own. I am looking into ABA and also doing this in the natural environmnet. I am going to be doing this myself because 1) I can't afford the price that the ABA clinic is charging (an arm and leg). 2) My insurance will not pay a dime for any therapies because they do not cover mental health so they consider Autism under the mental health. So the only option that is left is for me to do it all myself. I got the book " Work in Progress " by Leaf and then I am planning on getting the ABLLS book. My ST is letting me hire her as a consultant for speech so if I have questions I can email or call her. She will come out once a month and check on her progress. I can't afford to pay a weekly visit (I wish I could). I am going to be getting " Teach me Language " by Freeman. Someone from another list recommended that I come here since some on here do ABA at home and do it themselves. So I am asking if those of you that do it all to recommend resources, how you do it, schedule and so on. You are more than welcome to email me at hrtruitt@... Thanks so much and I hope I can learn a lot from you. Holly IN
