Guest guest
It is unfortunately true that greedy people out to make a buck have been attracted to our kids like sharks drawn by blood in the water. It is a disgrace, and it makes every single DAN physician an open target for people like the ones who are behind this article. Still, there are many practitioners who embrace the DAN protocol so that they can heal our kids. If you read between the lines, the real target of that article was hope, and anyone who offers it to our families. It was penned to denegrate the belief that autism is treatable, to draw attention away from the concept that the collective beliefs of the "old guard" are false. As long as there is one Dr with DAN training who IS "in it for the money", people like this will paint ALL DAN physicians with the same brush. I do agree that no dr should make promises, because every child is different. It is also true that many kids do not improve as much as their parents wanted them to. Nonetheless, we will all continue to have hope, and we will not stop working with our kids until their health is restored. Our children are physically ill, with real medical issues, and no amount of behavioral training or psychotropic medication is going to change that. Until mainstream medicine addresses those medical issues, parents will continue to take their chances elsewhere, flaws and all. Subject: Re: Horrible article on autism treatments, need some helpTo: mb12 valtrex Date: Monday, June 2, 2008, 4:05 AM I only gave it a glance...but one thing I do know there are certainly many praying on our families and many mnay ripping off DAN creds for profit after attending as few conferences as possible and who knows what they bothered to learn while there. Charging by the minute and no accountability since it is incurable anyway, right....it is a charlatan's wet dream. So, the article might be a drag, but the bit that stings is the part that's true - to paraphrase Ben lin...I have been had a time or two. And there are many out there totally taking advantage, so perhpas this mum did get burned, big time. Di> >> > Appalling.
