Guest guest
Most PPO’s don’t pay for medical weight loss. We were sharing space with a doctor who had a medical weight loss practice up until October of this year. He didn’t contract with insurance and wouldn’t bill insurance. Patients paid him at the time of service ($89/visit) and he provided a receipt for them to submit to their insurance and/or HSA account. Can you bill PPO insurances for this by using " abnormal weight gain " or " obesity " as ICD-9 and documenting what was done/discussed? Guest guest
The folks I know doing this are billing it under the codes for the co-morbidities because no, the obesity codes aren't paid.
