Most PPO’s don’t pay for

medical weight loss. We were sharing space with a doctor who had a

medical weight loss practice up until October of this year. He didn’t

contract with insurance and wouldn’t bill insurance. Patients paid

him at the time of service ($89/visit) and he provided a receipt for them to

submit to their insurance and/or HSA account.

Anybody practice medical weight loss? Can you bill

PPO insurances for this by using " abnormal weight gain " or

" obesity " as ICD-9 and documenting what was done/discussed?
