Guest guest
I apologize for the cross posting. I was reading an article in Money magazine this morning that indicated that the new tax law permitted money from 529 plans (the tax-deferred college plans set up by most states, like Missouri's MOST plan) to be used for tutoring, equipment and other expenses if you have a special needs child. Does anyone know anything about this? Does the money have to be in the account for awhile? We've got MOST accounts set up for our girls that they will hopefully be able to use for college someday. But if we can make contributions now that can be withdrawn in a short period of time to pay for some of their autism-related expenses, we'll increase our rate of contribution--especially since I don't think we'll have enough this year to qualify for medical deductions on our income taxes.
