Carol,

I can understand your concern as to this research. Let me assure you

that we want nothing to do with killing babies before or after birth.

This is not the intent of this study. The intent of this

study/research is to place children at risk of autism so they will be

followed closer as they reach/ lack of reaching milestones so they

may reach early intervention sooner. As a parent of a child with

autism this is important, the doctors totally missed it with my

daughter. As Many of parents with children with autism state. I am

concerned that there was not enough research into this topic and that

if we can get these children in the system instead of having 48%

slipping in the cracks we can help change lives for the better, no

matter what degree of improvement they recieve some of these children

may not have recieved any intervention or may never if we do not do

something about it. I agree everyone wants a real cure but as you

realize that may be down the road. The least we can do for these

individuals until then is get them some help faster and to more of

the population with autism. Just another parent view on the

research/study of newborn and pregancy.

One of the other efforts we have done over the past many years is to

raise awareness with the professional community regarding autism and

issues that surround these individuals.

Hope this helps.
