Guest guest
Just wanted to add for whoever it was that talked about the wheelchair being so heavy . . . there are very lightweight foldable wheelchairs that can possibly be borrowed from therapy places or hospitals for short-term use or long-term use. I would highly recommend trying to obtain one of these so you are not overwhelmed with the idea of taking that heavy wheelchair places. Insurance or medicaid might cover one also if it's for long term use. Also there are places --Goodwill, Salvation Army stores, etc. that might have some or there's www.craigslist.org where you can plug in your town and get items like this real cheap near you. Evan's rehab PT told me about this list and said it was great for getting exercise equipment, special needs stuff, etc. Actually I just looked it up and you can buy about anything there. I think I even saw a real lightweight chair for under $100 at Sam's once. Priscilla >>>>>> Posted by: " Keener " , That is great news! I had no idea that any hospital ever did anything FREE OF CHARGE! I'm not remembering, what did they find to be Ronnie's problem? And what did this surgery do? Did they give you any estimate of the total time he will be wearing a cast? Do you know at what point he will be allowed to put weight on it? I don't remember, how old is Ronnie? Isn't it hard when you know he's in pain? We'll pray that his recovery will continue to go well, and that God will provide all the help you need when you need it. (soon to be 3) has an ankle injury from a fall that is keeping him off his feet for a while. Hopefully, not too long. Nothing showed up on xray, but it could be a hairline fracture or a growth plate injury or just a sprain. He won't put any weight on it, so the doctor has put a makeshift cast/wrap thing to immobilize it for 2 weeks. Can't immobilize though! He has gone from scooting on his behind to an innovative scoot/crawl or else the old army crawl. He still sometimes wakes up hurting in the night, and I have to give him Tylenol.
