He will discuss theories about causes of self-stimulatory behaviors and behavior treatment procedures. NOTE: APRIL MEETING CHANGE!!!!! (4/16 mtg. moved to 4/13) IEP Saturday Morning Workshop April 13, 2002 9:00am -12:00 p.m. Drake Conference Center-Rm E 9:00am-10:15am Extended School Year Services Guest Presenter: Avirov /Tom s Avirov, Attorney At Law, specializes in IDEA and other laws that protect the rights of individuals with special needs. Tom s, Attorney At Law, is an experienced litigator in the areas of education law and civil rights. They will discuss Extended School Year services (ESY) – who qualifies for it and what types of services are appropriate. 10:15am-11:30am – Effective IEP Writing Guest Presenter: Dr. Rena Sorensen-Burnworth Dr. Sorensen-Burnworth is a pediatric psychologist from The O’Leary Center at Children’s Hospital. Bring your child’s IEP and learn how to write goals that are meaningful and measurable. 11:30am-Noon – Question & Answer forum with both presenters RSVP required – call 636-7203 – Refreshments provided Sleeping Issues in Autism May 21, 2002 7:00 - 9:00p.m. Drake Conference Center-Rm D This date is tentative. Guest Presenter: Dr. Jackie Wynn Dr. Wynn is the Director of the Intensive Behavior Intervention Clinic affiliated with Children's Hospital of Columbus. She will discuss sleeping disorders in individuals with autism and strategies for treatment. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- All conferences will be held at the Drake Conference Center, 151 W. Galbraith Rd., Cincinnati, OH. 45316. There is no fee for these workshops. We invite new families with questions to come early (6:30 pm) for a 1/2 hour informal parent orientation/question and answer time for the March and May meetings.
