Guest guest
Hi , There are several boards hashing out about vaccinations right now. Anyway, my stand is this: I think vaccinations are great, BUT, I also think that doctors are giving them to kids who are not healthy enough to receive them and this is where alot of the problem is. DPT and MMR are a little worrisome, but my brain in not in from deliberating about it yet. What I mean about the doctors failing to give the shots to healthy kids is simple. I don't think that premature babies should receive there shots on the same schedual as a full term healthy chunky baby. My son was 3 pounds when he got his first shot, a shot that was meant for a child weighing at least 7 pounds. He was 5 1/2 pounds when he received his 2 month shots, shots made for kids who are between 12-14 pounds. Also I think doctors are more concerned about their minding the rules and having to not bring people back in so much that they are giving the shots to kids who were just sick or are sick. This is bad considering that the warning labels state specifically that no child should get immunized when ill, because there immune systems are not at normal levels to handle the shot properly. The other culperate, and I don't mean to step on any toes here, are the parents. By this I mean, the parents who take their kids to the doctor for a shot and tell the doctor that their child has not been sick, or is not currently sick, yet the kid is doped up on Tylonal and Dimatap. I was doing a report on vaccinations about 3 years ago and several of the good pediatritions in town told me that the main reason parents will do it is time. They don't want to have to make another appointment and miss more work, the other reason being that many parents do not realize that this is very dangerous. Another thing these peds told me is, is that many doctors shurg off the parents reports of reactions and continue the series. BAD BAD BAD!!!! I believe that doctors need to be more up front about the risk, I think parents need to be more informed about the risk if the child is ill, and I think that doctors need to be more careful. For those interested, The DHS in CA is doing a study on MMR, because they think it is the culperate in the rise of Autism in the nation. In CA, Autism is at a rate of 1 in 312, the national norm used to be like 1/ 20,000+. Well, that is my two cents. I have been doing more research on it because of s immune probs. , wife to Preston, mother to Shelbie 8, Mandy 3 and 13 months Moderator of Military EFMs, IVH-Hydrocephalus and NICU Families Registered Chat for Preemies Friends and Family.
