Guest guest
I recently started probing one of my students to see what sight words he has. I initially started out having him match a word to pictures in a field of three. He had a perfect score. I then had him match picture to word in a field and he did perfect as well. After the first 50 words, I decided just to place a field of three in front of him and have him get the word I ask for. I'm certain to put similarly spelled words in a field so that I know he's discriminating. Right now, he has about 200 sight words. I'm wondering now where to go from here. The words I've been probing him on fall into concrete categories (i.e., foods, vehicles, colors, shapes, numbers, animals, etc). Should I start working on the Dolch reading list next? This particular student has limited verbal language due to his apraxia, but has above average receptive skills. HELP! Thanks so much in advance! If I've rambled without making myself clear, e-mail me and I'll try to clarify! Thanks again!
