Hi everyone,

My name is , and I have a 4.5 year old son, Christian. He

was diagnosed back in May 2001, with PDD-NOS, and a number of other

issues, such as Sensory Intergration Disorder, Speech/Language

Disorder, and others (I'm sure you've all been down this road

before!).

We have Christian in a special preschool, in an emotional

support/autistic support class. We are looking to mainstream him into

a regular preschool, perhaps after the holidays. My goal is

mainstream kindergarten with TSS support. He has 35 prescribed hours

of wraparound a week, focusing on ABA/DTT, and he has speech therapy

and occupational therapy, 2x a week. In addition, he is on the GFCF

diet (since March 2001), vitamin supplements, and we are currently

looking into addtional biological treatments in order to recover him.

My son is incredibly high functioning. All involved in his care agree

that his chances of " coming out of PDD " are very, very good.

I'm interested in speaking with other parents (especially if any of

you are from PA, specifically Pittsburgh) about the types of therapy

you are doing with your children, and how they are responding. I'm

also interested in learning more about AVB as compared to ABA. What's

the difference? How do you focus more on language in DTT or ABA?

Also, can any of you tell me about mainstreaming your PDD or ASD

child into a regular classroom?

I'd appreciate any feedback you could provide. My email address is

c.a.tomko@....

Thanks in advance!

Proud mom to Christian, 4.5 yrs old, PDDNOS
