Guest guest
Dear all, I've a question. My son (AS, 8 yrs old) is receiving ABA, now 10 hrs/week (cut down from last year's 40 hrs/week, because he was doing too good). He is really high functioning, but has his deficits, especially in the area of socialization (lack of reacting to others' words, talking to himself instead, inappropriate reactions, etc.), which, as I realize now, can be better addressed by VB than by ABA. Our ABA provider, strictly speaking, doesn't think they can do much more for him. I was thinking of switching to an agency doing VB before the school district cuts off the hours altogether, which may happen at the IEP in November, but don't know of any such agency in LA area. Does anyone have any advice? 1) is there an agency doing VB in LA and vendored with LAUSD? 2) what are other options of starting a VB program for a highly but inappropriately verbal 8 yr old? 3) are there any possibilities to have such a program funded by the school district? I will be very grateful for any information and suggestions! Elena
