Guest guest
Hi everyone, I have really enjoyed reading everyone's story and have learned alot of valuable information. I was started on tx (Interferon and Riba) in late Oct, 2007, my platelets dropped to 32,000 and my wbc dropped to a dangerous level so my treatment was stopped. I'm currently waiting to see a new specialist this coming Thursday. The last couple of week I have been having really bad leg and hand cramps. I have also been having problems having a bowel movement, almost impossible. Friday night I went to the bathroom and had a small movement, there was blood on the toilet paper and all in the bowel movement. I called my family physician and will see him Tuesday morning. Has anyone else experienced these problems?
Guest guest
I get constipated from pain meds and sometimes have rectal bleeding. However, the blood in the stool sounds a little more serious and you were smart to call the doctor. I have been putting off my first colonoscopy which is long overdue. Guest guest
Are you still drinking your water?? That is something I still stress to all. Alot of the meds we take even if we are off of treatment can block up the GI system. Make sure you drink plenty of juices. That helps too. Fiber is another thing you can add to your diet. But make sure hon that you are getting plenty of fluid in your diet also. Need any more advice let us know. We are full of it. LOL Advice not the other stuff. Guest guest
Janet, I am still drinking water, but not as much as I was on treatment. I forgot to mention that I also have a hernia that has the biggest part of my small intestine pulled into it and my bowels are almost shut off. I was scheduled for surgery back in Sept, but that is when the Ugly Dragon showed his head and my surgery was canceled. But I will try adding more water. I am constantly drinking Tea, juices upset my stomach. Thanks for all of the advice SharonJanet wrote: Are you still drinking your water?? That is something I still stress to all. Guest guest
Sharon……I’m curious why your surgery would have been canceled due to the hep. Juices, particularly citrus, upset me as well. I switched to grape juice months ago and I am able to handle that just fine. I buy the “light” one and it’s really very good. Guest guest
Citrus juices can interfere with some meds , including those for anesthesia and meds like zanax RE: Just Wondering Sharon……I’m curious why your surgery would have been canceled due to the hep. Guest guest
That is why I love apple juice. It is my favorite. Also a big fan of cranberry juice.
