FEAT of the Greater Bay Area is hosting a Parent

Training Series from July 22 through Aug 26, Monday

nights from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. These workshops are

designed for parents (though professionals may

attend). They are ideal for families who have

recently obtained a diagnosis of Autism, Pervasive

Developmental Disorder, Aspergers or any other

developmental delay, or for anyone who would like more

training in the following topics.

July 22 - Evaluating Treatment Options

We will weigh risks and benefits of commonly available

treatment options to help you decide which ones are

right for your family and your child.

July 29 - Behavior, Part 1: Making Behavior Plans

You will learn how to identify problematic behaviors,

why they occur and techniques for reducing them.

August 5 - Behavior, Part 2: Using Visual Systems

Visual systems are important for our children to help

them with transistions, to be able to communicate and

to help with problem behaviors.

August 12 - Community and Generalization

Learn how to plan for successful community outings and

for applying your child's new skills to daily life to

make them more meaningful and useful.

August 19 - Daily Living Skills

Self help skills and chores are complex and can be

very frustrating for our kids. Learn how to break

these difficult tasks into more manageable pieces.

August 26 - Play!

We will discuss the differences betwen independent and

social play and techniques for teaching both.
