Nameing shapes and colors

How old is your son? Wow! A thousand nouns is very

impressive, and naming verbs, adjectives an adverbs is

really great.

Regarding the shapes and colors, I would guess that

he's probably getting confused and names what he

knows, whether it be the shape or the color at that

particular point in time.

My child does the same thing occasionally and I

realized based on his facial expression that he seemed

confused when I asked him to tell me the shape AND

color at the same time. He does fine if I ask what

shape or if I ask what color, but both at the same

time seemed too much for him, although most of the

time he says " the blue circle " or whatever the color

and shape of the item happens to be.

....language is at the point of being able to name all

colors, shapes and probably more than a thousand

nouns, plus verbs, some adjectives and adverbs...he

can name his colors, but when shown a shape and asked

it's color, he gives me the shape name....
