Tara, more does not do anything. It's been shown that anything over 5 mg really doesn't make any difference in adults so going more in a child would logically be the same. It'll either work or it won't. Sometimes you have to take a break from it, too as the body will adjust to it. Take a break from it for about a week and restart. I would suggest that you try again at a much lower dose. For the first time on a 3 year old, you should start with about 1/4 of a pill and work your way up until she falls asleep in 20 minutes. You shouldn't have to go over 3 mg in a 3 yo. Also, keep in mind that it doesn't have them stay asleep, only helps them fall asleep. You'll have to try time release for that and you can't break the pill or you'll destroy the time release properties.

I give my son foods that are high in tryptophan without other high amino acids that block and overtake

tryptophan. bananas, eggs, and turkey have a good ratio. I give him a little snack before bed and it helps alot Might be worth a try
