Guest guest
Hello and welcome. Please see my recent post #2634 for my usual, general advice. As far as braces and pain-relievers go, try to use them both as little as possible. They can inhibit the healing process. More importantly, neither one is going to help you figure out what is wrong with your knee. Of course, this is easy for me to write because I've never had knee pain as bad as you. :-( You want to FIX your knee, not cover-up the pain. Despite what your OS said, you should never have to " live with your pain. " Pain is not normal and you can get rid of it. Seeing another OS may be a waste of time, but that doesn't mean you should stop trying to find a doctor who can help. Again see my post #2634 for the kinds of doctors to look for. Good luck, Doug > Hi, I am 28 years old and live 24/7 with horrible knee pain. Guest guest
Good advice, but I just wanted to add taht not all pain releivers are equal. It's my understanding regardijng NSAIDS like Viox, Celebrex, and Naproxen that while they are supposed to help with the pain, they are also supposed to promote healing. When my doctor prescribed Naproxen to me, he told me that the idea was to keep a constant level in my body to promote healing and that I was supposed to take it on schedule for the duration of the prescription, not just when it hurt to mask the pain. dougfromct2002 <dougfromct2002@...> wrote: Hello and welcome. Guest guest
Re Naproxen I'm confused - my doc told me just to take when the pain was bad cos they are so strong. i'm doing physio at the mo but its doesn't seem to be working or i am just impatient. i have misaligned kneecaps. Guest guest
it is my understanding that if you are on any type of NSAID, that they need to be taken everyday to be effective, normally you don't feel the effect for a few weeks of taking them. I have PFS and CP and find that none of the NSAID's that I tried worked....but like everything else, everyone is different. Thanks, Mona Re: Re: New to the group!!
