Sheila

You may want to accept much less than a complete verbal request at

first. You may even allow him to given use a pictogram or written

word such as in PECS with or without a sound. Once you have

eliminated the inappropriate behavior, you can then slowly build up

the use of language.

If he has trouble getting the words out, escpecially when stressed,

he may benefit from visual supports such as PECS to help him produce

the words.
