Guest guest
Discrimination Training. This is exactly what happens with SD that are very similar like " what is it? " " what colour is it " " what does it do " ...Sundberg presented on this at the ABA conference in Toronto. Set out three cards and go through " what is it " " who is it " " where is it " . Make sure that these are strong / mastered independently and then mix them up in trials randomly. All children's repetoires fall apart when this level of discrimination is required. But it is an important skill for real life. Good luck...Dina [ ] Re: Teaching mands for information: " Who is that? " and " What is that? We taught What is that? and Who is that? basically the same way you described. We taught him to discriminate between them by mixing known and unknown objects with known and unknown people (we used oddball occupation cards) all in one long line of cards on the table. At one point we also added in " What's that word? " because it was a mand he wanted to use (he was reading some and very interested in new words), but had trouble discriminating with the three similar mands. So then he had known and unknown things, people, and words all mixed together. With errorless teaching and quick prompt fading he got them all and now uses them all in the natural environment. Good luck! --- Mom to , almost 6, austistic and , 2 1/2, NT
