I think that the way that you can help remedy this problem is to do the kind of things that you are doing right now. Bring up these issues as parents and let other parents know the importance of getting the best therapy and not just getting the therapy done at any cost. Some other ways to insure good service is to look into a person's background. Look at where they received their education. You can find out if they received their degree in an institution that teaches ABA by looking at the department and the courses required on the internet. Another thing to look at is do they have a license in Psychology. With a license they are more responsible for their actions and remember that ABA is a field of psychology. Then tell other parents that it is important to look at these things. It is important to consult with a professional that has knowledge and experience even if the rest of your team is less educated. I appreciate your message and support you in spreading the word about good ABA because when ABA is done poorly not only does it hurt the child that receives the therapy but it hurts our field in general. This is how ABA gets a bad name. When people hear bad things about ABA then they will look for alternative treatments and those treatments may not be the most effective ones available.
