Guest guest
I need to ask the following questions because I am VERY unclear on what this all means. We had our son evaluated last May and two " autism " tests were done (CARS and ADOS) and he scored " nonautism " on both. Due to various reasons that I don't want to get into, we want to remove the autism label from his records at school. Someone told me that you need to " seal his records " What does that mean? I have this image of the principal taking his file and duct taping it shut with a sign in yellow and black reading: DANGER. DO NOT OPEN. DO NOT READ. 1. What does " sealing records " actually mean? How are they sealed? If we move in the future, does this sealed file get sent along with the records (ie his report cards etc which were graded just like any other childs- he was never in a sped classroom) 2. What reasons justify sealing? our child still gets 30 minutes of OT for bad handwriting per week. There is no IEP for any other thing except OT. 3. How does one go about sealing it? What did anyone here do? 4. can a school refuse to seal? 5. Once it is sealed, is it always sealed? Will this sealed file follow him through college? Any information would be appreciated. Many thanks, A.C.
