Guest guest
I would think both seeing that the school you have visited seems to have a good program! I might be hesitant if otherwise. ABA/VB could be a 24/7 program. What I mean is when your child is at home...any interaction with him/her could be a learning experience, be it language or just everyday stuff...running programs/ drills or leisurely down time....teaching the how's and why's that so much of the children 'just don't get'. As your child get's older you can explain differently. While in school..school situations will be presented..this is something that is difficult to replicate at home. Schedules will be followed, specials (eg; field trips, presentations, plays) will occur, learning to take directions from other adults, and the 'oh so important' social situations can be worked on. Friendships can be fostered...nothing is nicer than for your child to be asked to come to a peers birthday party. You can meet other parents who can hopefully be 'emphathic' to your situation and take an active interest in your child. Possibly there maybe a Parent/Teacher Assoc. for Special Needs that you might want to become part of. I hope this helps with your decision.
